Byodo-in Temple  Completed and dedicated in 1968, the Byodo-in was built entirely without the use of nails.  Its a scale replica of a temple at Uji Japan that was constructed over 900 years ago.  The Byodo-in was planned with the input and assistance of the Hawaiian Buddhist community and its leaders. The Byodo-in is built tom represent the mythical phoenix, its wings upheld by pillars of stone.  Folklore tells of the phoenix arising from the ashes to reflect the promises of hope and renewal The Bell, announces your arrival at the temple is said to bring good fortune. The Great Buddha is the largest wooden Duddha.
